A proper routine not only keeps your skin healthy and hydrated but also boosts your confidence.

Everyone has different skin, therefore various concerns, issues and goals. Some do not have enough time to invest in it due to their hectic schedules. But, there are a few skincare basics which can be easily incorporated into your daily routine without much hassle.

In this blog, we will discuss the tips and tricks that will help you build an effective and manageable skincare routine according to your needs. So let’s get started and remember Consistency is Key!

Understanding the Importance of Skincare:

Before exploring a perfect routine, it’s important to acknowledge its importance. Our skin is a thin layer which acts as a barrier to protect us from external factors, such as pollution and Uv rays. This barrier gets weakened over time, if not taken care of properly. A proper regime ensures a healthy and hydrated skin which further prevents issues like hyperpigmentation, wrinkles, fine lines and acne.

Find Your Skin Type

The most crucial step is to analyze your skin type so you can find the products according to your concern. This will reduce the risk of breakouts and irritation. There are commonly 5 skin types:

  1. Normal: If your skin doesn’t feel too dry or oily, then you may have a normal skin type. You will have tiny pores, even texture and a few dark spots.

  2.   Oily: If your face feels greasy just after a few hours of washing it then you may have an oily skin type. You will notice enlarged pores, shine, and it will be prone to acne, blackheads, and whiteheads.

  3.   Dry: Tired of tight, flaky and dull skin? You may have a dry skin type. It lacks natural oils and needs to be deeply moisturized.

  4.  Combination: The name is self-explanatory, combination skin means having both oily and dry skin with particularly T-zone being oily while the cheeks feel normal to dry.

  5.  Sensitive: People with sensitive skin types struggle the most. It gets easily irritated and reacts to certain products and ingredients resulting in redness, pimples or itching.

Steps For Achieving a Glass Skin:

  1. Double Cleansing:  Are you tired of the stubborn pores and blackheads? Tried nose strips and peeled off your skin? Don’t worry! Almost everyone has been in the same boat. Cleansing your face twice can be a game-changer. It thoroughly removes the dirt and impurities, leaving your skin clean and fresh. It involves using micellar water or an oil-based cleanser to remove all the makeup. It also controls the sebum production, which means you don’t have to bear skin issues anymore! Now, choosing the right cleanser is very important. A foaming cleanser works best for a person with oily skin type, while a hydrating one is perfect for dry skin type as it locks in moisture, leaving skin nourished.

How to do it? Massage the cleanser onto damp skin and rinse it with lukewarm water. Follow this step in the morning and at night, as cleansing twice a day is important for a healthy skin.

2.  Toning: This step is followed just after cleansing and is exceptional in most of the cases. But if you want to splurge then a toner can take your skincare to the next level. It is used to remove any remaining residue and helps in balancing the skin’s pH levels. It is necessary to choose an alcohol-free toner and look for nourishing ingredients like glycerin and hyaluronic acid if you have normal to dry skin type, and salicylic acid for combination to oily skin type. It deeply penetrates into the skin and controls the production of excessive oil.

How to do it? Gently pat the toner using clean hands or use a cotton pad to gently wipe your skin.

3.  Exfoliating: Many people don’t emphasize its importance enough. It is an important step towards having a bright complexion. It should be done once or twice a week depending upon how your skin reacts. It removes dead skin cells resulting in an even skin tone. Be cautious, over-exfoliating more than twice a week can weaken your skin barrier. It can be done in two ways, physical exfoliation which could be done using a scrub, or chemical exfoliation, which involves using serums including AHAs, BHAs and glycolic acid.

How to do it? Use your hands or a cotton pad and wipe your face. Avoid sensitive areas like around the eyes, as it can irritate them.

4.   Moisturizing: To lock everything you have applied, use a good moisturizer. It deeply nourishes and protects the skin barrier. If you have a combination to oily skin type, choose gel based lotion, if normal to dry skin type, then you need a thick cream. Look for ingredients like hyaluronic acid, shea butter and ceramides for that natural glow.

How to do it? Use a pea-sized amount and spread it evenly across your face. Even if you are skipping toning and exfoliating, remember to moisturize your face after cleansing.

5. Sun Protection: Shielding your skin from harmful UV rays is essential. It is the most important part of the routine, as it helps to combat issues like anti-aging, wrinkles, fine lines, and most importantly, skin cancer.

How to do it?  Use the two fingers method and apply it on your face, neck and other exposed areas of your body. Make sure to reapply it after 2-3 hours.

To summarize, when it comes to skincare, less is more. Don’t layer your skin with countless products. Instead, look for items with the ingredients that suit your skin.  A proper skincare routine with minimal products will give you the desired results for your concern. Not every trending product online is necessary, many are just marketing gimmicks that encourage overconsumption. Instead start with a basic routine and focus on consistency. As your skin builds tolerance, you can introduce additional products to address specific issues. So, try these tips and get ready to say goodbye to all the imperfections!
